Why Families Love Brownfield Family Park
Brownfield Family Park is one of Oxford County’s newest community playgrounds, opening in October 2025 after years of planning by a dedicated volunteer playground committee. Designed as a gathering place for families, the park combines modern playground equipment with open green space, picnic areas, and room for community events.
Whether you’re a Brownfield resident or exploring western Maine for the day, the park offers plenty of opportunities for kids to climb, slide, swing, and burn off energy while parents relax nearby.
Its location beside the Brownfield Community Center also makes it easy to pair your visit with other recreation programs or a picnic lunch.
Play & Explore
Unlike many playgrounds that center around one large play structure, Brownfield Family Park features several separate playgrounds spread throughout the park. This layout encourages kids to move from one area to the next, creating new adventures and plenty of opportunities for imaginative play.
Mini Barn Play Structure
The highlight for many children is the large wooden barn-themed play structure. Designed to resemble a classic New England barn, it’s packed with ways to climb, crawl, and slide.
Features include:
- Nine slides of varying heights and styles
- Multiple levels to explore
- Bridges and platforms connecting different sections
- Plenty of opportunities for imaginative farm play
This is easily the park’s signature attraction and is where many families spend the majority of their visit.
Castle Play Set
The castle-themed playground is perfect for younger children and imaginative adventurers.
Features include:
- One slide
- Fire pole
- Three swings:
- One standard belt swing
- One toddler bucket swing
- One baby swing
Wooden Truck
One of the most unique features of the park is the wooden truck play structure.
Kids can:
- Sit behind the steering wheel
- Pretend to drive
- Climb aboard
- Slide off the back
This simple structure often inspires long stretches of imaginative play.
Adventure Climber
A modern metal climbing structure provides plenty of physical challenges for older children.
Features include:
- One slide
- Monkey bars
- Stairs
- Several different ladder styles for climbing
- Elevated platforms to explore
Wooden Playground
Another wooden play structure offers additional climbing and sliding opportunities.
Features include:
- Two slides
- Wiggly bridge
- Stairs
- Rock climbing wall
Pirate Ship
The pirate ship is another favorite for imaginative play.
Kids can:
- Climb aboard using the access ramp
- Look through several portholes
- Climb to the top deck
- Slide back to the ground
It’s an easy place for little pirates to create adventures together.
With so many different play structures spread throughout the park, Brownfield Family Park encourages children to explore, create their own adventures, and discover something new around every corner.

Final Notes
Brownfield Family Park is a wonderful addition to western Maine and gives local families a modern place to gather, play, and spend time outdoors. While it doesn’t have the destination feel of some larger regional playgrounds, its new equipment, open layout, picnic space, and welcoming community atmosphere make it an excellent stop for families exploring Brownfield or passing through on the way to the White Mountains.
Because the park is still relatively new, it’s also fun to visit before more families discover it—especially if you’re looking for a quieter playground where kids have plenty of room to play.
