There was a conversation a couple of weeks ago with a group of Maine moms in business that stuck with me. A lot of them were talking about April vacation and the upcoming summer break and trying to figure out how they’re going to balance work and kids when school routines pause.
It’s something most parents run into this time of year, and it made me think about how different this season looks for me right now. I chose to build Lake Region Kids in a way that I can do it with my kids by my side. We’re getting out, exploring new places, and visiting others we’d be going anyway — and I feel really fortunate to be in that position.
Now it’s just a matter of narrowing down the events id like to attend and places id like to explore. There’s no shortage of options heading into next week and plenty more local gems I learn about weekly. This week’s posts are built to help you choose. You’ll find simple places to go, easy ideas to fall back on, and a few local spots that make getting out feel manageable any week.

This is the time of year where it gets easier to say yes to getting out. And it’s also a season where I’m reminded why I chose to build this the way I did — something that grows alongside my family, and alongside yours.
Right now, I’m still in a phase where I’m putting most of what comes in right back into this — continuing to build it out, visit more places, and create the kind of content that actually helps when you’re trying to figure out what to do with your kids.
If this has helped you find a place to go, a plan for the day, or just made getting out feel a little easier, sharing it with another parent makes a bigger difference than you might think. Every share, comment, and like helps more families find it — and helps more local businesses connect with the people they’re trying to reach. And over time, that’s what allows this to keep growing into something even more useful for this community.
Thanks for being here.
See you out there,
Lauren
