There’s nothing quite like the magic of watching your kids chase giant bubbles across the yard on a sunny afternoon. They float, shimmer, and stretch to impossible sizes—before popping into giggles. The best part? You can make your own bubble solution right at home with just a few simple ingredients.

Bubble Solution Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cup ultra dish soap
  • 1 tablespoon glycerin

Instructions:

  1. Pour 6 cups of water into a large bowl or jug.
  2. Gently stir in 1 cup of ultra dish soap. Try not to stir too quickly—this keeps extra foam from forming.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of glycerin and mix until combined.
  4. Let the solution sit for at least a couple of hours (or overnight if you can) for the best results.

My Favorite Way to Mix It

love making this solution in a gallon jug—it’s quick, tidy, and makes storage simple. A gallon jug holds 16 cups of liquid, so I adjust the recipe to fit perfectly inside:

Gallon Jug Recipe:

  1. Pour out 2.5 cups of water from your 1-gallon jug
  2. Add:
    • 2 ¼ cups dish soap
    • 2 ¼ tablespoons glycerin
  3. Mix very gently to avoid bubbles forming in the jug.

This gives you a full gallon of ready-to-go bubble solution that you can store and use all summer long. Just pour into a shallow tray or bucket when it’s bubble time!

Bubble Wands We Love

Of course, the right wand makes all the difference for giant bubbles. These are our favorites—they’re easy to use and make bubbles that wow every time:

Parent Tip

If you’re planning a birthday party, playdate, or summer get-together, make up a gallon of this solution ahead of time. Set out a few wands and a shallow tub of bubble mix, and you’ll have an instant hit with kids of all ages.

The Joy of Simple Fun

Giant bubbles never fail to bring out the wonder in kids—and honestly, adults too. With just a few ingredients and the right wand, you can turn an ordinary afternoon into an unforgettable adventure right in your backyard. Whether it’s part of a birthday party, a lazy Saturday, or a quick after-school surprise, this bubble recipe is sure to become a family favorite.

So grab a jug, whip up a batch, and let the laughter float as high as the bubbles themselves.
