What Is Music on Main?
Music on Main is a free outdoor concert series held at 144 Main Street in Bridgton, Maine.
The series was created by a group of Bridgton residents who wanted to offer a community event without tickets or financial barriers—just live music and an opportunity for people to connect.
Music on Main is now a nonprofit organization with a mission to:
- Celebrate the arts through performances by local and national musicians
- Bring vibrant, family-friendly nightlife to downtown Bridgton
- Support local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community causes
The concerts are made possible through the support of sponsors and community partners, allowing admission to remain free.
Doors open at 5:00 p.m., giving families time to find a place to sit, visit the food trucks, and explore the Kids Zone before the music begins.

Why Families Will Love Music on Main
Although Music on Main isn’t exclusively a children’s event, it has been thoughtfully designed to welcome families.
The open-air setting gives children more freedom to move around than they would have at a traditional concert. Families can spread out on the lawn with blankets or folding chairs, while children dance, play, and enjoy the excitement of hearing live music.
At the show we attended, the Kids Zone included:
- Bubble machines
- Hula hoops
- Space for children to dance
- Plenty of room for active play
The Kids Zone gave the children something to do while we settled in and waited for the performance. Once the music started, they could continue playing or move closer to the stage to dance.
It was a wonderfully relaxed environment where kids were allowed to be kids.
Our First Music on Main Experience
Our family attended Music on Main for the first time on August 22, when country artist Jerrod Niemann performed.
We brought folding lawn chairs and initially planned to watch the entire concert from our seats. One of my children, however, was much more interested in getting closer to the music.
The two of us headed down to the lawn directly in front of the stage, where they danced alongside other children. We ended up with what felt like a front-row concert experience—without needing special tickets or reserved seats.
Watching the kids dance together in front of the stage was one of the highlights of the evening. They didn’t need to know one another or even know every song. The music gave them an immediate reason to play, move, and enjoy the moment together.
It was the kind of simple summer memory that these community events make possible.
Dinner from the Food Trucks
One of the easiest parts of attending Music on Main was being able to purchase dinner right at the event.
Instead of preparing a meal beforehand or trying to squeeze in dinner before leaving home, we sampled food from several of the vendors on site. During our visit, we ate from:
- Sook Thai
- Flatbread Fiesta
- Wicked Fresh Fried Chicken
- BK’s Fresh Squeezed Lemonade
Having several food trucks available meant everyone could choose something different. It also added to the festival-like feeling of the evening—ordering dinner, finding our seats, listening to music, and finishing everything with a fresh-squeezed blueberry lemonade.

What to Bring
A little preparation will make your evening more comfortable. Consider bringing:
- Folding lawn chairs or a picnic blanket
- Cash or a card for the food trucks
