Where a local bakery becomes a true community gathering place
There’s something meaningful about a small business choosing to open its doors not just for transactions — but for connection.
In a season when families are often bouncing between busy schedules, paid activities, and long stretches at home, having a simple, welcoming place to land matters more than we realize. Not every outing needs to be an event. Not every meet-up needs a ticket. Sometimes what families need most is a warm room, a few toys, a hot cup of coffee, and the freedom to stay awhile.
When a local business creates space for that — without pressure to purchase, without an admission fee — it strengthens the fabric of a town. Parents meet parents. Kids recognize familiar faces. Conversations linger. Community grows in small, ordinary ways.
That’s exactly what’s happening during YumPowered Hours at MEpowered Pastries.

What Is a “YumPowered Hour”?
In short, YumPowered Hours are designated times when MEpowered Pastries invites families and community members to stop in for:
- Free coffee
- A low-key play space for kids
- A place to sit, chat, and catch up with friends
- The option to purchase delicious baked goods — but only if you want to!

It’s not a play center or a kids’ event — it’s more like your favorite neighborhood living room on a Sunday morning, where everyone is welcome.
Why This Matters
Spaces like this don’t come around by accident. In many towns, families are left choosing between expensive indoor play spaces, crowded cafes, or sitting at home when the weather is gray and everyone’s antsy. When a small business creates a place where people can simply gather, it helps knit the community closer together.
Instead of feeling like you have to schedule a paid activity, you can drop in with a friend, let the kids play freely, and actually connect. Parents can take a deep breath with a warm cup of coffee in hand while the littles explore and build. That’s not just convenient — it’s valuable.
It also gives kids an early experience of community life — meeting neighbors, seeing familiar faces, and learning what it feels like to spend time in a shared space.

Intro to MEpowered Pastries
MEpowered Pastries isn’t just a bakery — it’s built around the idea of empowering kids and families to learn, create, and connect through the power of baking.
That mission extends well beyond the display case. In addition to their scratch-made breads and pastries, they offer kids baking classes, summer camps, and Mommy & Me classes, giving children hands-on opportunities to learn real kitchen skills while building confidence and creativity.
There’s a clear emphasis on togetherness — on slowing down, sharing food, and creating something meaningful side by side. YumPowered Hours feel like a natural extension of that mission: a space where families can gather, connect, and feel welcome.
Everything is made from scratch by their team, and you can taste the care in it. From fresh breads to soft muffins and sweet treats, the menu feels both thoughtful and comforting.

Our Visit
We attended on a chilly Thursday morning, and it was such a great escape from the cold. The kids had a blast building with foam blocks, and we took a snack break with a delicious banana muffin — seriously good. With just a few kids there that day, it was peaceful and easy-going — perfect for conversation and playtime.
