A Mission That Matters
At the heart of Mr. Drew’s work is a simple but powerful mission: to rescue, rehabilitate, educate, and inspire. This isn’t just an exhibit — it’s a place where rescued exotic animals get care and a second chance, and where people of all ages can learn about animal biology, ecology, and compassionate stewardship. Folks behind the scenes help animals that have been relinquished by previous owners or found themselves without a proper home, giving them space to thrive and, when appropriate, finding them new, responsible homes.

The center also reaches beyond its walls. Mr. Drew and his team travel across Maine and into neighboring states, bringing their animal ambassadors to schools, libraries, camps, and birthday parties. These outreach programs are designed to spark curiosity and respect for the natural world — a mission that’s just as meaningful as the work done at the Poland location.
Where the Animals Come From
The variety of animals at Mr. Drew’s center reflects the passion and care behind the operation. Many of the creatures housed here are rescued or relinquished exotic animals — that means they were once pets that owners could no longer care for, or animals in need of rehabilitation and a safe environment. These animals range from reptiles like snakes and lizards to amphibians, birds, fish, and more. At the center, each one receives attentive care and is part of an educational experience that teaches visitors about their needs, behaviors, and conservation.

What to Expect on Your Visit
The Poland location — officially opened to the public in October 2025 — brings this mission to life in a bigger, more interactive setting than ever before.

Here’s what families can look forward to:
- Exploration at Your Own Pace: While most families spend around two hours exploring, you’re welcome to take your time soaking in the experience. There are over 200 animals to observe — and some you can even, feed, touch, or hold.
- Natural Science Discovery: Beyond the animals, the center has a Geological Center featuring rocks, gems, fossils, microscopes, a lapidary machine, and more — all designed to feed curiosity and learning in a hands-on way.
- Fun for All Ages: From toddlers to grandparents, there’s something to engage everyone. Free popcorn, water, and other refreshments add a welcoming touch to the adventure.
- Special Experiences: In addition to general visits, the center offers party bookings, special events, and educational programs — perfect for birthdays or school groups.
- Location & Hours: The center is now located at 1395 Main Street, Poland, Maine, and is open daily with exploration hours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Admission: $10 per person to explore the education center for as long as you’d like. Admission includes three rocks from the geological dig and two shells.
Not everyone wants to touch or hold animals—and that’s okay. The Education Center is lined with books, visual learning materials, and stuffed versions of many of the animals, giving visitors a chance to explore at their own comfort level. Families can observe, learn, and enjoy without ever needing hands-on contact.
Accessibility Note: Mondays from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM are set aside exclusively for families with children who have special needs or sensory sensitivities. These dedicated hours offer a calmer, more mellow environment so kids can explore without crowds or stimulation overload.
A Tradition of Learning & Wonder
In an age when hands-on learning often takes a back seat, Mr. Drew and His Animals Too is a reminder of the joy that comes from seeing, touching, and engaging with the world around us. It’s the kind of place that sparks questions, kindles wonder, and leaves lasting memories — just the sort of experience families cherish and talk about for years.

Whether you’re planning a weekend outing or an educational field trip, a visit to Mr. Drew’s center in Poland is sure to be one of the most talked-about stops when exploring with your family near Sebago Lake.
