What This Event Is All About

Many parents feel the urge to declutter before the holidays — to clear space, simplify, and ease that overflowing toy bin before new gifts arrive. The Great Holiday Toy Exchange offers the perfect solution: donate gently used toys and browse for “new-to-you” gifts for your children.

Toys brought for donation should have all their pieces or, for stuffed animals, be freshly laundered. Items donated will go directly to another child right here in the Sebago Lake community — a beautiful way to make your clutter into someone else’s joy.

And the best part? You don’t need to donate to participate. Every family is welcome to browse and take home toys during the exchange.

Why Families Love This Event

1. Clear the Clutter Before Christmas

Decluttering is top-of-mind for so many parents this time of year. Instead of letting toys collect dust, you can pass them along knowing they’ll bring happiness to another child in your own community.

2. Budget-Friendly Holiday Prep

Toys are expensive, and holiday spending can add up fast. This exchange gives families a chance to find high-quality toys for free—perfect for gift-giving, stocking stuffers, or just refreshing your playroom.

3. A Chance to Find Your Child’s “Most Wanted” List Items

You never know what treasures will show up—a favorite character, a classic board game, a LEGO set, baby gear, puzzles, beloved books, and more. It’s absolutely worth taking a look.

4. A Great Spot for Kids to Choose Gifts for Others

This event is a sweet opportunity for kids to pick out something special for a sibling, cousin, or friend. It makes gift-giving personal, thoughtful, and budget-friendly.

5. Sustainability & Community Kindness

Reusing and sharing toys keeps them out of the landfill and supports the library’s mission of community connection. It’s a small act with a big impact.

What to Bring (If You’re Donating)

  • Gently used toys in good working condition
  • All parts included (for games or sets)
  • Freshly washed stuffed animals
  • No broken or heavily worn items, please

Stop In, Browse, and Celebrate Community

Whether you’re dropping off a few items, browsing for the perfect gift, or just want to participate in a local feel-good event, The Great Holiday Toy Exchange is a wonderful way to kick off the season.

It’s simple, generous, and rooted in community — exactly what this time of year is all about.
