Cherry Hill Farm in Gorham is a family favorite for good reason. Along the winding trails, kids will discover stick house villages in several areas along the trail that can be crawled through or played in — plus animal carvings hidden and on benches (look for the snoozing bear and moose!). Final Thoughts: Let Nature Be the Playground

Each of these spots proves that the best playgrounds don’t always come with slides or swing sets — sometimes all it takes is a few logs, some rope, and a big dose of imagination. Whether your kids are hopping from stump to stump at Steep Falls, weaving through the labyrinth at St. Joe’s, or stirring up mud pies deep in the woods at Otter Pond, these natural play areas invite them to move, explore, and connect with the world around them.

And for parents, they’re a reminder that playtime outdoors doesn’t have to be complicated — just fresh air, open space, and time spent together.

🌤️ So grab your boots, a snack, and your sense of adventure — and let one of the natural playgrounds in the Sebago Lake Region do the rest.
