When your kids are growing faster than your ski budget, equipment leases can be a game changer. Instead of buying gear they’ll outgrow by mid-season, families can rent high-quality skis, boots, and snowboards for one affordable price.
Here’s your guide to youth ski and snowboard lease programs around the Sebago Lake region, including pricing, deadlines, and bonus deals that make hitting the slopes this winter easier on the wallet.

Why Lease Instead of Buy
Leasing ski or snowboard gear lets kids start each winter with properly fitted, modern equipment — no guessing on sizes, no expensive purchases they’ll outgrow, and no hassle trying to resell used gear later.
Most lease programs run from October through April or May, and include boots, skis or board, bindings, and poles (if needed). Many shops offer equipment exchanges if your kid outgrows them mid season and many of the leases include free tune ups.

Local Mom Tips
- Book early. Most shops begin fittings October 1, and inventory can sell out by Thanksgiving.
- Try on in person. Kids’ boot comfort can make or break a ski day. Make sure they can wiggle their toes and that socks aren’t too thick.
- Ask about upgrades. Some shops offer swaps mid-season if your child grows — especially helpful for preschoolers and first-time skiers.
- Take advantage of free passes! Gorham Bike & Ski’s free Black Mountain pass can make a big difference if you’re planning family ski days.
