Since its founding in 1987, Loon Echo Land Trust (LELT) has helped preserve the natural beauty of Maine’s Lake Region—making places like Pleasant Mountain, Bald Pate, and Raymond Community Forest accessible for generations. Today, that legacy continues with their largest annual fundraiser: Trek for the Trails, running from September 1 to October 31, 2025
What Is Trek for the Trails?
This beloved event invites community members to walk, hike, bike, paddle—or even roll—anywhere, anytime during those two autumn months. Thanks to generous local business sponsors, LELT receives $1 for every mile logged, up to a total of $6,000. It’s a free-to-join, accessible way to support the trails our community has enjoyed for decades.
Keep the Tradition Going—Here’s How It Works:
- Register for free via the Pledge-It platform, and get your personal Trek tracking page.
- Get outside—choose your favorite trails, near or far, and log your miles. Every mile means a dollar toward maintaining and improving LELT’s trail system.
- Go the extra mile:
- Raise funds from friends and family. Each $50 contributed adds a raffle entry.
- Share your trek—post a selfie (don’t forget any leashed pets!), tag LELT, and email the screenshot for another raffle entry.
- ➡️ If you’d like to support Trek for the Trails directly through my fundraising page, you can donate here: Lake Region Kids Calendar Trek for the Trails.
Prizes Await Every Trekker!
Participate and you’ll be automatically entered into a raffle to win:
- 2025–2026 day passes to Pleasant Mountain Ski Area
- Gift cards from local businesses
- Apparel from Ski Hot Ski Shop
- LELT hats and other goodies
Join Community Treks
Do more than log miles—connect. Guided hikes led by LELT staff are part of the experience. Dates will be announced soon, offering a chance to explore with friends—old and new—on the trails we love.
A Community-Powered Tradition
For nearly a decade, Norway Savings Bank has served as title sponsor of Trek for the Trails, contributing $5,000 this year. Their sustained support has made this event—and the trails themselves—a pillar of Lake Region recreation and conservation.
LELT’s stewardship extends beyond fundraising. Conserving over 9,000 acres and managing a 35-mile trail network, the organization supports habitat protection, public access, and thoughtful trail design—including efforts like accessible field loops at Mayberry Hill.
Why This Matters
In a fast-changing world, this event offers something timeless: time on the land—under autumn skies, on well-loved paths, with community at our backs. Trek for the Trails roots us in tradition while mobilizing support for tomorrow’s trails.
Join the trek. Register, move your miles, make a difference—and maybe win a prize along the way.
